Work

Sacred Heart IDEA Lab

While studying at Sacred Heart I worked part time with the fabrication lab on campus. My responsibilities grew from designing and printing 3D projects to managing the entire machine shop my Junior year. Within my roles I helped instruct students via step-by-step instructions and intuitive powerpoint presentations. This gave me a unique experience of teaching my peers on something I am proficient in which has come in handy later on in my college career.

An example of my work with the IDEA Lab was the planning and fabrication of central pieces of furniture. I operated a 4’x8′ ShopBot CNC Router with Fusion 360 to design and cut out the pieces needed for our front desk. To test the design I cut out the desk with small plywood that had comparable dimensions to a full sized 4’x8′ sheet of 1/4″ plywood. This desk became a central hub for the operations of the IDEA Lab for students to go for questions or help with various machines within the lab.

One of the benefits of the IDEA Lab was the ability to experiment with some of the equipment. The lab had something I had my eye on, a HackOne RF. I began playing with the device and started toying with replay attacks. I looked into getting another device to jam the frequencies surrounding the key’s, but I wasn’t able to get them for the Lab. The reason why I would want to jam frequencies is to block the key from communicating to the vehicle while listening with the HackOne, this way I can replay the first key recorded and save the following keys for a replay later on. The attacks I did at the Lab were isolated replays.

Smart Roofs Solar

I currently work at Smart Roofs and have been here since 2022. The job has given me insight on solar engineering furthering my CAD experience. My tasks at SRS are to take in requests from the sales team which include the customers address, electric bill, and customer information. From this I use satellite imagery to design and simulate photovoltaic (PV) production. In combination with the customer’s previous year’s electric usage, I can give a reasonable estimate for future savings while including financing options with various state and federal incentives.

Outside of my job description I develop different calculators within Google Sheets thanks to my background in Microsoft Excel, a software I am proficient in. Furthermore I have created scripts that assist our Executive Assistant with paperwork by automating the creation of the paperwork using a form filled out on request.
